A huge $11 Million restoration project is currently going on at the Santa Monica building, in order to make part of the mixed use property into a hotel. The Spanish Colonial Revival located at the edge of Wilshire Boulevard and Seventh Street was built in 1928. The renovations will bring the building up to code and add in the hotel. The new layout will accommodate 270 rooms and suites, with 13,000 square feet of restaurant and shopping space. Another additional 6,000 square feet of meeting rooms are also planned.
This Alex Gorby venture is being planned by Howard Laks Architects. Construction is planned to begin in August with a scheduled completion date of fall 2018.
