Things to do in April: Have fun supporting a good cause…
See a few stars and support the Los Angeles Public Library April 1st at the 9th Annual Young Literati’s Toast. The evening will be filled with music, comedy, and literature with performances by Chelsea Handler, Andrew Bird, Constance Wu, and more. The Library Foundation of Los Angeles event supports free programs, resources, and services at public libraries throughout the city.
Zedd, DJ and Grammy-winning artist, is throwing a “Welcome” concert April 3rd in response to the recent immigration ban. The Staples Center event will feature musical acts including Incubus, Skrillex, Imagine Dragons, and more. 100% of the event’s proceeds will go to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which defends individual rights and liberties. Tickets start at $49.50.
Help beautify Los Angeles April 15th, 22nd, and 29th during The Great Los Angeles River Cleanup. Last year over 9,000 volunteers helped clean 70 tons of trash from the LA River, and they are hoping to go even bigger this year. The clean ups go from 9am-12pm, and you can register to volunteer on their website.

Learn about the Icelandic contemporary music scene during the LA Philharmonic’s April 1st-17th Reykjavik Festival. Highlights of the festival include performances by Sigor Ros & the LA Philharmonic, an art installation by Icelandic artist Shoplifter, and a screening of Driving at the speed of the Nordic Sun. Prices vary depending on the event.
See a movie under the stars April 5th through May 31st at the Rooftop Cinema Club. Deckchairs and wireless headphones will be provided on the rooftop of The Montalban Theatre. Movies range from new releases to cult classics and more. Some of our favorites on the list are Goodfellas, Back To The Future, and Selena. Tickets start at $19.

Grab your invisibility cloak and wand April 8th for the 6th Annual Harry Potter Roller Skating Night. The Moonlight Rollerway Skating Rink event includes a costume contest, raffle, games, and, of course, non-alcoholic butter beer. Tickets for the family friendly night are $15 and include skate rental.
Reminisce on your angst filled teenage days at The Observatory OC Grounds for the two-day When We Were Young Festival. Headliners for the April 8th and 9th event include Morrissey, Descendants, Taking Back Sunday, and 34 other performers. Single and two-day passes are available. Prices begin at $100.
