Apex Estate Group Guide: Things to do in August
Our curated events and to-do’s for the month of August
Things to do in August: Do something different…
Drink beer and learn about animals at the LA Zoo’s Brew at The Zoo. Kona, Angel City, and Elysian are three of the over 40 breweries sampling at the August 3rd event. Also enjoy live music and zoo keeper talks about kangaroos, otters, komodo dragons and more. Tickets start at $65 and include a take home five ounce beer mug for all your beer samples.
Shop local artisans, eat at delicious food trucks, and drink in the beer garden at Jackalope Summer Nights. The free Pasadena shopping experience highlights fashion, jewelry, housewares, and more. Yoga, DIY workshops, flower crown bar, music, and lawn games are all a part of the August 3rd and 4th event as well.
Grease is the word… even after 40 years. Celebrate the iconic movie’s 40th anniversary at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre on August 15th. A preshow dance will take place before the screening. There will also be a cast and crew reunion hosted by Mario Lopez featuring the movies director, Randal Kleiser, and cast members Didi Conn, Barry Pearl, Olivia Newton-John, and Danny Zuko himself, John Travolta. Tickets are sold out, but you can show up early that night to get on the standby list.
Things to do in August: Listen to tunes…
Get your groove on every Friday in August at Dance DTLA. This free event is open to all ages. August 3rd, 17th, and 31 are DJ nights, while August 10th is devoted to disco and August 24th to Bollywood. Dance to your own beat or follow the instructors as they give beginner dance lessons on the non DJ nights.
Round up all of your friends for the All My Friends Music Festival August 18th-19th. This is a new festival for LA and with performances by R L Grime, Gucci Mane, MIA, Jamie XX and so many more, we’re sure it won’t disappoint. The downtown event goes from 4pm-12am each night, and single day tickets start at $79.
