Things to do in July: Celebrate Independence Day…

Patriots Night at Dodger Stadium

Nothing is more American than baseball, which is why Dodger Stadium is the perfect place to celebrate Independence Day. On July 3rd the LA Dodgers take on the Pittsburgh Pirates. Following the game will be a gigantic fireworks display sure to please the whole family. Tickets start at $36, and there’s a special event ticket package that includes an exclusive Dodgers 4th of July T-shirt.

Fourth of July Block Party

Head downtown to Grand Park + The Music Center’s Fourth of July Block Party for the nation’s largest, free 4th of July celebration. You can bring your own picnic, excluding alcohol, or buy food and drinks from one of the 40 on site gourmet food trucks. The event also includes games, art making, music on two different stages, dancing, and, of course, an impressive fireworks display.

AmericaFest

On July 4th the Rose Bowl hosts their 92nd annual AmericaFest. The event begins at 12pm when parking lots open, kids activities begin at 2pm, doors open at 5:30pm, performances including a Michael Jackson sing-a-long led by American Idol winner Maddie Poppe start at 7pm, and the day culminates at 9pm with fireworks. Tickets start at $15.

Anime Expo

Check out the largest Anime conference July 5th-8th with over 100,000 of your closest anime loving friends. The Los Angeles Convention Center 4 day extravaganza features musical performances, panels, signings, contests, lounges, games, an artist and entertainment hall, a fashion and art annex, and so much more. 1 day tickets start at $70, while 4 day tickets start at $120.

Lotus Festival

The 38th Annual Lotus Festival takes place from 12pm-9pm on July 14th-15th in Echo Park. The event celebrates a wide range of Asian cultures and traditions. The free event programs include dance, martial arts, and musical performances, a silent auction, children’s area, handcrafted artwork, teahouse, dragonboat races, and more. Free parking and shuttles are available throughout both days of the event as well.

Lucky Rice Feast

Family and food take center stage at the 9th Annual Lucky Rice Feast. The event celebrates intergenerational Asian cuisine. 25 of LA’s best chefs will come together July 26th to showcase foods and recipes that were important to them when they were growing up. Tickets start at $150 and include the tasting of almost 20 different dishes, drinks, entertainment, and more.

California Pizza Festival

Get ready to stuff your face at the very first California Pizza Festival on July 28th-29th. The fest includes unlimited pizza samples, drinks, giveaways, and live music. Over 25 pizzerias including Luzzo’s BK, Urban Pie, and Fahrenheit LA are already confirmed with more joining the lineup soon. Kids tickets start at $20, and adult tickets start at $45.
