Things to do in May: Eat well…

Masters of Taste

Get ready to indulge on over 2,500 food and drink samples at May 6th’s Masters of Taste. The Pasadena event features unlimited samplings from some of LA’s best restaurants, chefs, wineries, and craft breweries including Porto’s Bakery, Angel City Brewery, Mercado restaurant, and many more. 100% of proceeds benefit Union Station Homeless Services, a non profit that helps homeless individuals and families. Tickets start at $105.


Try treats from all different parts of the country at this year’s EEEEEATSCON. Over 20 food vendors will participate in the May 19th Santa Monica event including Ravionly from Brooklyn, Han Dynasty from Philadelphia, Parson’s from Chicago, and some local LA favorites, as well. The day of fun also includes musical performances and speakers from the food industry. Tickets begin at $30.

Grand Butterfly Celebration

Celebrate the end of butterfly season May 5th & 6th at Kidspace Children’s Museum. Kids will learn about the life cycle of butterflies, be able to mold a butterfly puddler out of clay, paint, and design and assemble a butterfly stick to wave during the butterfly show. General admission tickets are $14.

Best Friends NKLA Super Adoption

Meet your new best dog or cat friend at Best Friends NKLA Super Adoption weekend. Last year over 580 dogs and cats were adopted, and this year the foundation is hoping to beat that number. More than 1,000 adoptable pets will be featured at the May 19th & 20th event. Adoptions begin at $10, and all pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Admission is free for the family friendly event, and food trucks and vendors will be on hand, as well.

California Strawberry Festival

Declare your love for strawberries May 19th & 20th for the 35th year of the California Strawberry Festival. Activities include cooking demonstrations, Berry Best Hat Contest, Strawberry Shortcake Eating Contest, musical performances, kid’s area, and arts & crafts. Tickets for the Oxnard event are free for children under 5, $5 for children 5-12, $8 for seniors, and $12 for everyone else.

Things to do in May: Do something different…

Beyond The Streets

Immerse yourself in the world of graffiti and street art at the 40,000 sq. ft. Beyond The Streets art installation. Stepard Fairey, Mister Cartoon, and Invader are just a few of the artists whose works will be displayed at the May 6th – July 6th show. Tickets begin at $25.


It’s not summer in LA without Cinespia. The Hollywood Forever cemetery movie screenings begin May 12th and run throughout the summer. Showings include Casablanca, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Alien, and many more. All events are BYOB, begin and end with DJ sets, and include a free photo booth. Tickets begin at $16.
